First Steps in Motorsport

Beginnings of the racing career and the simracing stage

This is not and will not be another story about a “young go-karter” or “yet another successor of Robert Kubica.”

I started my journey in a completely unconventional way, through simracing, for the simplest reason — as a teenager, I didn’t have piles of money, a sponsor network made up of outsiders and family, or even anyone in the environment to support me. Even when I was having fun with it all, I never imagined that I would stand on the grid for professional races on European tracks, win titles, help others achieve success in this field, or that I would even become skilled at a professional, international level by “playing games.”

Motorsport was planted in me around the age of 3-4, through the first Gran Turismo on PlayStation. I loved and still love cars and motorsport, but my whole life didn’t start from that. Throughout most of my childhood, I had a huge passion for football, and even though I knew a lot about car models and the basic construction of cars and engines, until my first lesson behind the wheel, I wanted to play football professionally. I also loved that and even had a brief episode with the number 10 on my back.

Through the beginnings, where I simply combined learning with fun, I kept progressing. Initially, I was losing several seconds to the best in the world, but then I made my way into GT Academy, and through official time trials in various simracing games (mainly Gran Turismo 5 & 6, Assetto Corsa, Raceroom Racing Experience), I raised my level further and further. As soon as I could, I also participated in local Time Attack competitions, while helping to organize training sessions (which allowed me to do 2-3 times more kilometers, even just for the sake of learning) — all to gain more and more experience.

I was a national finalist in the GT Academy in 2013 and 2014, where I was very close to participating in the prestigious European final. In 2015, when I was finishing my high school diploma and vocational exam, I told myself that I would start my motorsport journey “seriously,” on my own. However, fate took a turn, and I was able to secure much better opportunities than I had initially planned, at least for that stage.

First Motorsport successes

Debut in professional racing and recognition by well-known figures.

In the 2016 season, I made my debut in the Polish Hour Race Championship, together with the MMM Racing team, whose owner, Michał Matuszyk, had already noticed me during my Time Attack competition appearances. In my first season of racing, I managed to secure the Vice Championship in the D4-2000 class, which, given the circumstances and the resources at the time, was a solid achievement.

Through my commitment to personal development, gaining experience, and building connections, I was able to participate in scouting tests for the Audi TT Cup for the 2017 season, where I had the pleasure of training under the guidance of Markus Winkelhock (former F1 driver, long-time Audi Sport factory driver) and Marco Werner (4-time winner of the 24h Le Mans). Unfortunately, the budget for racing in the cup became a barrier to further participation.

The 2017 season was less fortunate, ending in 4th place out of 10 cars in the class, essentially lost to cars that exploited a loophole in the regulations regarding the use of turbochargers for specific engines, having much more powerful cars than ours, with nearly the same engine displacement. To console myself, we secured the team Vice Championship in the sponsor teams’ class. I had to spend the 2018-2019 seasons on a break from racing due to budgetary issues and the desire to focus on coaching (the foundations of which I had already been working on since the 2014/2015 transition, even as a teenager). My return to racing, which has been regular and uninterrupted, started in the 2020 season.
In the 2020 season, thanks to Przemek Plucinski’s initiative and DRIVE SQUAD, I was able to return to racing. We partnered up with Adam Karkuszewski, for whom it was his first year racing, while for me, it was a debut in a one-make cup. The beginnings were quite solid, including securing Pole Position and maintaining a regular pace at the TOP3 level, although the entire season was largely unsuccessful due to numerous technical failures. The only race that went well was the final one in the rain, where I managed to finish in 4th place, recovering from 9th position in less than an hour.

Despite the lack of satisfying results, the hard work paid off, and I was recommended to another driver who was about to make his debut in the following season. That was Michał Walczak-Makowiecki, with whom I managed to pair up just before the first round of the 2021 season.

The collaboration was extremely fruitful, as we started winning races from the beginning and consistently secured podium finishes, culminating in our first season of work with a Polish Championship title in one of the toughest one-make cups in Poland.

The relationship developed so well that we planned joint participation in the coming years, and in the 2022 season, Michał and I won the II Vice-Championship of Poland, while in 2023, we achieved the Vice-Championship in RCN at the Nordschleife in the RS2A class.

In the meantime, I was also involved in other activities and projects, such as testing prototypes for Wolf Racing in Poland and Italy, and making my debut in the Cupra Leon TCR, where I secured the first row in the debut qualification for the Polish Endurance Championship and finished 3rd in the debut race.

first Coaching successes

Description of instructor’s & coaching career

I began my work as an instructor/coach around the turn of 2014/2015, helping Bartosz Palusko adapt to front-wheel-drive cars. Bartosz was set to compete in the one-make Volkswagen Golf Cup in 2015, after having spent his entire life racing only RWD cars.

Our work focused on training with a road-going Golf GTI Mk6, using onboard footage and analyzing telemetry data (AIM & MoTeC).

From 2015 to 2016, I occasionally assisted various drivers on tracks during my visits to different locations, while also working on educational content for the motorsport and simracing communities, including coaching livestreams on YouTube.

Since the 2017 season, I have been regularly working for a company that organizes gift experiences with supercars across Poland, as well as serving as an official instructor during events like the Tor Poznań Track Day.

At the same time, I took on more individual training sessions and one-off assignments, such as working with Complex Motorsport and the central branch of Toyota in Poland. This included overseeing a press group during the debut of the GR Supra and showcasing it at Slovakiaring, as well as the Polish premiere of the Toyota GR Yaris, among many other events.

Since the 2018 season, I have been focusing more on individual training sessions for drivers fighting for every fraction of a second.

I later started working at some of the largest Time Attack events in Poland, including foreign rounds, and eventually focused on developing drivers participating in professional races.

As a fun fact, in the 2020 season, I had the opportunity of working with drivers from the GT World Challenge, helping them with their introduction and adaptation to simracing during the pandemic. During this time, drivers representing factory teams raced on the Assetto Corsa Competizione platform.

With each passing season, I strive to increase my involvement and activity on tracks in Poland and Europe, working as an instructor and coach, as well as being hired by other drivers and companies.

I am fortunate to be involved in more and more projects that are increasingly advanced and ambitious in nature, and I put my heart into taking care of them.

The 2025 season will be a turning point, as I will be much more active with much stronger and faster vehicles, as well as in more significant racing categories. I will also do everything I can to keep this page updated 🙂

See you on the track!
